How Foreign Spies Could Have Entered the Capitol With the Trump Mob
The domestic terrorist invasion of the United States Capitol building by Trump loyalists is over, but the worst damage may be yet to come.
Wednesday, January 6th, 2021 will be remembered as one of the most horrifying, chaotic, and grim days in American history. The 45th President of the United States of America aided and abetted an attempt to overthrow our government. Thousands of Donald Trump’s brainwashed insurrectionists assaulted local police, smashed windows, and stormed into the Capitol building to try and stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden as the rightful and undisputed winner of the 2020 United States Presidential Election.
The invasion and hostile takeover of the United States Capitol by insurgents has not happened in over 200 years (the British Army). It’s safe to say that none of us imagined a violent coup attempt would ever happen in modern-day America during our lifetime.
Donald Trump and his radical domestic terrorists’ coup attempt on Wednesday, January 6th, 2021 opened the door for foreign intelligence officers to gain access to the U.S. Capitol building. Elected leaders from the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate regularly meet here to share classified information withholding some of our nation’s most important intelligence secrets. If any of these coveted secrets were to somehow end up in possession of hostile foreign governments (i.e. Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, etc.), it could result in catastrophic consequences for our nation.
Numerous Congressional staff members' offices were broken into and looted during this coup attempt, including the office of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. In fact, the terrorist who broke into Pelosi’s office said her email was open on her desktop computer, potentially opening the door to confidential information getting into the wrong hands. Senator Jeff Merkley said his laptop was stolen yesterday by one of the terrorists out of his office, which is another severe national security breach itself. Who knows what other items were stolen amidst all the chaos.
If Trump cultists were able to break into the U.S. Capitol, imagine the damage trained foreign spies could inflict once inside the building. Think about it, all any foreign spy had to do was throw on some pro-Trump gear, blend in with the large mob, and walk right into America’s sacred Capitol building. They had a once-in-a-200-plus-year-opportunity to break into a Congressional office like Speaker Pelosi’s and steal confidential information from documents and computers that would compromise the national security of our country. Listening devices and cameras could have also been planted anywhere by foreign spies, further compromising our national security from here on out.
Examples of confidential information that could have been stolen include the identification and location of America’s intelligence agents currently living undercover all over the world, military secrets/strategies, financial documents, passwords, and building schematics (just to name a few). We know Trump has repeatedly refused to condemn the crimes of dictator Vladimir Putin and his Russian government is responsible for a massive recent cyberattack on America.
Certainly, our intelligence agencies and the Secret Service are currently taking all the necessary procedural steps to ensure that no national security secrets have been or will be leaked. The men and women of those departments do amazing and courageous work that should always be commended and trusted. Then again, no one ever thought the U.S. Capitol building could ever be invaded by a mob either, but we were all wrong.
I pray that my speculation here is incorrect. I pray that all those terrorists who invaded the Capitol building yesterday were not spies or foreign intelligence officers. I pray that they were all just idiotic, brainwashed Trump loyalists that were radicalized by their dear cult leader. I pray they all get swiftly brought to justice. I pray that the worst is over and we can move on and heal as a country under the incoming Joe Biden presidential administration. I pray that our democracy and nation never feel as vulnerable as it did on Wednesday, January 6th, 2021.
