The Hypocrisy of The GOP and China

Many Republicans are quick to call out others about their business dealings with China, but conveniently fail to look in the mirror.

July 10th 2020, Republican senator Josh Hawley from Missouri tweeted this about the NBA’s lucrative business dealings with China:

Hawley’s fellow Republican congressman buddy Ted Cruz also tweeted this last year:

Now I understand that China continues to partake in such atrocious human rights violations, but if Cruz and Hawley want to be taken seriously as harsh, trailblazing critics of China, you’d think they’d stop using iPhones right?? I mean after all, half of the world’s iPhones are said to be made in China.

If Cruz and Hawley are so “anti-China” as they like to repeatedly boast, then they should ensure that they will never use another Chinese product again. Sending out tweets criticizing China from their iPhones is as hypocritical as it gets folks, but this is nothing new with the Republican party when it comes to talking about China.

While China is a serious foreign policy topic, don’t be fooled by these two clowns. They wouldn’t give a rats ass about China if it didn’t serve their party’s (and president’s) political interests. Their response to the NBA’s support for the Black Lives Matter movement was to call them out on their business dealings with China because President Trump’s racist re-election campaign strategy is to paint all BLM protestors as thugs and criminals.

Hawley and Cruz were awfully quiet when it comes to Russia’s ongoing attempts to interfere in our Presidential elections because the Republican controlled senate confirmed that Russia helped Trump win in 2016 and is trying to again in 2020. It doesn’t matter if the candidate is a Democrat or Republican, no foreign power should be trying to influence our elections on either side.

So no, Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley aren’t brave or courageous for calling out China, they are nothing more then political lap dogs for Donald Trump and as hypocritical as it gets. If Trump feels a certain way about something, Hawley and Cruz fall in line behind “dear leader”, no questions asked. Don’t be fooled, there’s already way too much disinformation going around as it is.
